Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
Works under the direction of the supervisor or designee. Coordinates and monitors assigned activities within the department to ensure efficient operations. Works collaboratively with staff members and various other departments to ensure items are processed correctly and in a timely manner. Assists with educating staff, monitoring documentation and maintaining par levels.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or recognized equivalent and one-year experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Count supply inventory in all PAR locations daily (Monday – Friday).
- Enter counts into computer system daily.
- Create and print restocking pick tickets based on these counts.
- Fill pick tickets in bin location order, verifying item numbers on the pick ticket with items being pulled from the shelves.
- Deliver supplies to all PAR locations based on pick tickets.
- Help receive shipments as they arrive.
- Verify correct product and quantity on all shipments, Initial all packing slips as they are received.
- Verify condition of received shipments insuring condition of boxes. Indicate any problems or discrepancies on the bill of lading and have the driver sign.
- Enter receipts from packing slips into the computer on the day of arrival.
- Stock the arriving supplies in the Supply Room placing the "old" supplies in front.
- Deliver special order and non-stock items to the proper departments.
- Maintain neat and orderly PAR locations, the Supply Room and the receiving areas.
- Performs any other duties and tasks assigned by the Materials Management Manager.
- Completes all required courses on HealthStream.
- Take night and weekend call as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to direct the work of others
- Ability to operate equipment such as the steam sterilizer, low temperature sterilizers and washer decontaminators
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Proficient communication skills
- Knowledge of instrument tracking software
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to hazards associated with bodily fluids and tissue
- Regular exposure to the risk of blood borne diseases
- Exposure to chemical agents used in cleaning
- Exposure to hazards of steam and heat, may be subject to burns
- Loud stressful environment due to equipment and high demands
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
- Subject to many interruptions
- Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
- Exposure to chemicals used in sterilization including Hydrogen Peroxide and Ethylene Oxide
