Position Summary:

Provides leadership of supply chain projects and activities, including production planning, material planning, and inventory forecasting activities to improve customer service levels, reduce costs and improve accuracy. Examine existing procedures for opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. Direct the movement, storage or processing of inventory.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage appropriate supply chain planning strategies to achieve desired service levels and inventory targets. Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities or system flows
  • Hire, train, develop and manage regional planning team of 12 employees in accordance with planning best practices as assigned
  • Participate in the design and implementation of ERP system integration development and upgrades to support desired planning strategies
  • Ensure appropriate metrics are maintained and communicated to drive execution of regional team goals
  • Act as a liaison between regional planning team and production facilities to ensure collaborative planning process is maintained
  • Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
  • Manage inventory, including the disposition of obsolete and excess inventory and manage and coordinate physical inventories
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in production planning and scheduling, inventory management, MRP process and distribution is required
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management preferred
  • APICS, CPPM (Certified Professional Purchasing Manager), or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification is preferred
  • Warehouse, purchasing and/or buyer experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Supervisory/managerial experience preferred
  • Technical or Super User ERP experience preferred (JDA, JDE, SAP, etc.)

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of production planning and scheduling, inventory management, MRP process and distribution with proven track record of implementation of processes leading to excellence and improving cost metrics through the use of best practice techniques such as MRP planning, JIT, kaizen, etc.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
