Job description

Summary: This position ia accountable for assessing and providing treatment to individuals with mental health or substance abuse disorders. Their role is to help persons served to recover from substance abuse disorders (SUD) by educating them on pathways, strategies, and skills to deal with their SUD. The counselor may undertake therapyy sessions for persons served family, where applicable.

Duties and responsibilities

• Interviewing persons servded, reviewing records, and conferring with other professionals.
• Counseling persons served in group or indvidual sessions to help them to cope with any problems.
• Counseling family members to aid them in dealing with, supporting, and understanding the persons served.
• Monitoring, evaluation, and recording person served progress in treatment goals.
• Collaborating with nurses, physicians, and case managers to coordinate and plan treatment.
• Modifying treatment plans depending on the progress of person served.
• Planning and conducting programs to combat social difficulities, prevent substance use, or improve counseling and health.
• Referring persons served, or families to essestial community resources.
• Supervising and directing other workers providing servicesto persons served

Skills and Specifications.

• Knowledge of principles, procedures, and methods for rehabilitation of behavioral health dysfunctions.
• Strong desire to assist people suffering from SUD
• Ability to gain confidence, trust and respect of the persons served.
• Ability to maintain ethical and therapeutic boundaries with persons served.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degreeor masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, or any related field from and accredited institution.
• Cerdified Addiction Professional (CAP) by Florida Certification Board.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
