Tri Pointe Homes San Diego is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to join our talented group as a Design Studio Manager.


Position Highlights: The Design Studio Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the Design Studio and the development of the design studio team members.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Overall management of the Design Studio.
  • Successfully develops and executes the division’s strategic plan collaboratively with the Brand/ Division President and management team, balancing home office initiatives and long-term focus with local economic drivers. Thinks beyond the business plan: expands thinking considering various market conditions (including market contractions).
  • Monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the studio relating to all team members, business, and financial operations.
  • Demonstrates a keen understanding of the brand/division’s position in the market relative to competitors, including factors such as pricing, sales rates, cancellation rates, product types, traffic, customer demographics, and market research vendors (who they are, who we’ve used in the past, etc.).
  • Overseeing the design studio team, setting up procedures, processes and assuring the design studio has the most current design trends, finishes, and options available for homeowner selection per take-rate report data.
  • Interprets intimate financial knowledge of the business plan, related to design studio functions, into actionable strategy. Effectively utilizes past experiences and current data to give accurate projections of future business plan outcomes.
  • Communicate project updates regularly to management and cross-functional teams such as the status of each project, potential issues, risks, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working interdepartmental relationships, with customers and business partners by managing their concerns in a prompt, courteous and effective manner.
  • Representing the interests of the studio and ensuring issues are addressed and resolved expeditiously.
  • Managing and mentoring the Design Studio Consultant(s) and Coordinator(s).
  • Enabling the team to reach their individual potential and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Understands the important critical touchpoints related to attracting, hiring, developing, and engaging talented employees.
  • Be a key member of a collaborative management team, working closely with sales managers, project managers, and construction managers.
  • Oversee and implement elevated customer experience process per home office objectives.
  • Providing homeowners a professional design experience that will allow them to select available options, discuss finishes and various upgrades to assist in making their dream home become a reality.
  • Provide buyers with product information; upgrade options, pricing information within buyers’ budget.
  • Handle all revisions relating to color selections and addendum options in a timely and accurate manner with adherence to the cut-off schedule.
  • Calculate pricing prepare paperwork for buyers’ review and approval.
  • Manage the option selections and act as a liaison between construction, subcontractors, sales, and field.
  • Respond to questions and customer concerns from Field, Customer Care, trade partners, and contractors on addendums and color selections.
  • Meet or exceed expectations set for customer experience scores and sales goals incentives.
  • Delivering revenue, margin, productivity, and customer experience standards in line with Company objectives.
  • Ensure all paperwork and diagrams are correct and appropriate for homebuyers, construction, and trade partners.
  • Inputs product item numbers into the design specification sheets on the computer and verified for accuracy.
  • Communicate any delays or issues to the Design Center Manager and any other necessary team member(s).
  • Attend model walks and community kick-off meetings, as necessary.
  • Manage the change order process
  • Prepare accurate schematic drawing for concrete, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and flooring change order options for Construction Department.
  • Providing an elevated customer experience from start to finish per company objectives.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Interior Designer and/or Design Studio Manager.
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire and train.
  • Strong PC skills required, with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook), Adobe Pro, and internet‐based programs such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome required. Prior experience with Corrigo, Enterprise‐One/JD Edwards, Sharefile, Docusign, Envision, and Hyphen Solutions preferred.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others with respect for their unique contribution
  • Must have the abilities to communicate features, advantages/benefits associated with various upgrades, material durability, design standards, create color charts, sketches and prepare work orders as necessary for projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate end-to-end thinking through projects and clearly articulate any research, logic, and design choices that reinforce those creative decisions to our partners.
  • Ability to think through issues and present solutions.
  • Strong time management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously & meet deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: The expected base salary range for this position is between $69,500-105,500 per year, depending on experience and skillset. Base Salary is paid bi-weekly, every other Friday.
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for annual and quarterly performance-based cash bonuses, which are earned, calculated and paid in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company’s applicable incentive plan documents.
