Young Life Northern Virginia has a rich history of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith for more than 50 years. The area comprises the Arlington, Falls Church City, McLean, and Great Falls areas, including six high schools and 10 middle schools. There are currently 32 leaders engaged with ministry in five high schools as well as area-wide WyldLife and Capernaum ministries. The local committee is strong, with 22 members who represent every community in the area and are committed to reaching every kid. We also have a strong base of stakeholders in the area — donors who generously support our important work with kids and desire to see healthy ministry in every school.

Ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, this area provides a unique opportunity to reach the nations with the Gospel in our own backyard! Currently there is an area director, a part-time Capernaum staff, and a part-time administrator, and we are looking to grow our team!

Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking someone who is called and committed to reaching teenagers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and leading a team of volunteers at Wakefield High School. The main responsibilities for this position focus on building direct ministry at Wakefield.
  • Expectations will include being at the school on a daily basis, meeting and building relationships with students, training and leading a team of volunteers to do incarnational ministry at the school, building and leading a Campaigners community, leading a club and camp trips.
  • This staff person should also be excited to recruit volunteer leaders to partner in ministry.

Qualifications:

  • A deep prayer life and commitment to Jesus first, both personally and in ministry.
  • Commitment and skills to lead a diverse team and reach all types of kids.
  • Desire and proven ability to develop healthy discipleship opportunities for teenagers.
  • Models relational ministry with teenagers by participating in direct ministry.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, supervise and retain volunteer leaders.
  • Willingness to raise personal financial support.
  • Desire and capacity to work with people from diverse socioeconomic and economic backgrounds.
  • Willingness to partner with local churches.
  • Two-to-three-year commitment.
