Job description
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join an aerospace manufacturer of wheel & brake components, specializing in a wide range of products that go directly into the landing systems of a wide range of aircraft. The Staff Accountant, reporting to the A&D controller and General Manager, is a vital piece to the finance organization of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting for general ledger / Company Financial Statements:
  • Maintain company's accounting ledger, document, and record using internal controls.
  • Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
  • Prepare and complete company month-end journal entries, and related account reconciliations.
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
Payroll:
  • Bi-Weekly payroll processing.
  • Working with supervisors to make sure all employee hours are correctly stated.
  • Assist in 401K audits and reconciliation between payroll systems and Fidelity (401k Plan) system.
Financial Analysis:
  • Daily Sales Reporting.
  • Variance analysis to Budget and Forecast on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Quarterly Forecasts & Annual Business Plan.
  • Provide management with product line profitability reports.
  • Ad Hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of business finance, or accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance degree with accounting experience.
  • Proven work experience in a quantitative role.
  • Strong analytical capabilities including financial modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • ProfitKey, OneStream, or cube-based software experience desired.
Personality and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Passion for knowledge and growth, proven track record of idea generation.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Solid cost systems and manufacturing background preferred.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent report-writing, communication, and presentation skills (comfortable interacting with executives).
