JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting functions and ensuring that specific accounting records and reports are prepared and maintained. The Staff Accountant will assist in monthly and year-end financial reporting preparation, which includes statistical reporting, preparing and entering journal entries, and assistance with budget preparation. The Staff Accountant will prepare required schedules for the yearly external financial and Medicare audits, organize all audit workpapers and upload to the portal, and assist the auditors as requested. They will serve as a backup to the other Accountants and be responsible for year-end 1099 preparation. They will also prepare the financial statements for the Citizens Medical Foundation. The Staff Accountant will assist the Manager of Accounting and/or Chief Accounting Officer as needed.


Job Specific:
1. Assists with monthly financial closing duties and preparation of journal entries. (EF)
2. Responsible for preparing or verifying account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts by month end. (EF)
3. Distributes monthly reports, makes corrections, and answers questions related to them. (EF)
4. Prepares daily cash reconciliations and monthly reconciliations to bank accounts. (EF)
5. Provides information for external reporting requirements (financial audit, cost report, etc.). (EF)
6. Prepares 1099s by IRS guidelines and deadlines. (EF)
7. Assists with budget preparation, computer conversions, and special projects as requested. (EF)
8. Prepares financial statements for the Citizens Medical Foundation. (EF)
9. Serves as backup to maintaining fixed assets and related depreciation expense. (EF)
10. Serves as backup to other Accountants.
11. Assists the Manager of Accounting and Chief Accounting Officer as requested. (EF)
12. In order to meet Accounting needs, after hours and weekend work may be required. (EF)

2. Day-to-day performance complies with the hospitals Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
3. Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospitals Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
4. Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Required: BBA in Accounting

Preferred: None

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of detailed accounting functions

Preferred: Health care environment

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required: Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
