Dart Container is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to help develop, guide, and maintain the processes used to manage the maintenance, performance, and health of our manufacturing equipment at multiple Dart facilities. In this role you will have the opportunity to participant in diverse activities such as, strategic planning, implementing tactical initiatives, problem solving, developing, and delivering training materials, and coaching and mentoring others.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Lead and work on projects with manufacturing facilities to drive industry best practices in the areas of reliability, production, cost, yield, quality, availability, utilization, and procedures/training
  • Provide feedback to assess the state of readiness of a site with respect to Reliability working with the plant manager and plant leadership teams. Assist in the development of plans to improve both knowledge/skills as well as talent where needed
  • Provide on-site support; align work processes to match facility needs; establish long-term measures and tracking
  • Use internal and external performance benchmarking to drive step changes in performance improvement
  • Share and leverage reliability best practices with other regions and across the Dart organization
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a life cycle asset management process for components, equipment, and processes at all facilities
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document maintenance plans and performance metrics: failure analysis, and corrective action proceduresequipment capacities and risks; and other engineering solutions
  • Develop and implement of preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance plans
  • Investigate root-cause for repetitive damage and failure rates, and calculate costs that do not meet or follow the maintenance plans
  • Evaluate, recommend, and acquire tools for use, including process analysis software, and other physical tools and resources specific to reliability and maintenance improvement
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
  • May lead and direct the work of others


Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related engineering experience
    • Associate’s degree and ten (10) years of related engineering experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to communicate change, persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain technical or difficult issues
  • Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners.
  • Experience in maintenance leadership positions or background in reliability fundamentals and maintenance workflow processes
  • Experience developing and implementing Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs
  • Experience applying Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Able to lead cross-functional groups and to drive improvements through influence rather than authority
  • Experience with change management and effectively present to an audience or one-on-one of all levels within the organization
  • Ability to be an active listener, to take time to understand points being made, and to ask questions as appropriate
  • Experience working with plastics extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding, paper printing and/or paper converting processes
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Up to 80% domestic and international travel

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Maintenance Reliability Professional Certification (CMRP)
  • Certifications in Predictive Maintenance Technologies
  • Experience using Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
