Position reports into Director - R&D, Enablers and Value Capture. The role is focused on the Margin Management platform leading all aspects of cost savings projects to optimize of our existing products and processes to drive significant cost saving, ideation, and process execution. The person will lead enablement projects by working directly with the packaging, R&D and process engineers to facilitate product optimization that will mitigate inflation while renovating to market faster, better and more cost effectively.
The role will need project management expertise to influence cross functionally to change and drive significant quality improvement with a focus on margin expansion. This position will own the responsibility of driving the commercialization process for each project. The role will also manage the technical development and play a “hands on” technical role leading all snacks cost optimization projects. Scope extends from concept development to full commercialization and ongoing maintenance.
Core duties include:
  • Identifies and defines the technical requirements, evaluates research results, and provides leadership to project team to effectively drive business initiatives.
  • Develops operating plans, provides input into strategic plans, aligns resources, and is responsible for the development and engagement of project teams.
  • Provides formal guidance and supervision to Product Development Scientists. Reviews assignments, work plans, and experimental results of others prior to delivery to management.
  • Works influentially and collaboratively with cross-functional team across multiple levels of management.
  • Ensures the coordination, management, and execution of complex and multi-disciplined projects by staff
  • Ensures that objectives and timelines are met by team.
  • This entails becoming well acquainted with all process of the snack organization and providing guidance leadership to the team as well as cross-functional interfaces.
Focus on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineering service requests as well as evaluation and recommendation of process capital improvements and automation.
Primary Responsibilities: (Project Management & Process Expertise in Snacks & bakery)
  • Leads, directs, and deploys supporting staff to deliver against development and commercialization agenda against projects that will deliver cost savings across the entire snack organization.
  • Leverage technical and project management skills to identify and drive initiatives that will drive cost savings and continuous improvements.
  • Works at multiple management levels cross functionally to direct and influence margin expansion goals
  • Oversees interaction with manufacturing facilities and external suppliers to enable program success
  • Lead cross functional ideation session across multiple facilities to drive strategic programs that will drive year over year savings. (Quality, Supply Chain, Ops, Commercialization, Purchasing, Brand, Co-Man – approval through Director or VP level)
  • Brings forward and drives improvement opportunities for R&D organization
Job Complexity:
  • Provides critical thinking and influence on strategic direction
  • Provides basic skills in multiple Snack and Bakery processing working hand in hand with R&D.
  • Ensures process engineers are employing scientific rigor and discipline in development and commercialization Process
  • Provide technical product leadership for cross functional team and within product department.
  • Drive and direct key product supplier relationships
  • Proactively seek out and understands product technologies that may have application to business
  • Drive alignment with key project stakeholders on product development direction for innovation and commercialization programs
  • Troubleshoots issues, removes barriers and elevates issues appropriately that arise during development and commercialization
  • Understands the cost and performance drivers of product design
Must be effective in leading cross-functional project teams
  • Active understanding in cross-functional areas, including product and package development, QA, engineering, finance and regulatory.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in snack or bakery process development.
  • Strong people management and project management skills
  • Depth technical expertise in processing systems and commercialization business processes and warehouse/distribution operations.
  • Possesses an innovative and creative mindset with the ability to mitigate risk and create solutions and influences to drive what’s needs to deliver our financial targets
  • Fosters a resolution culture by demonstrating expertise in "Out of the Box" thinking. Willing to try new approaches and accepts failure gracefully while leveraging the learning experience.

Working Conditions:
This is a Hybrid model within our Camden, NJ HQ! Work from home Monday & Friday & Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in the office

Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$105,000.00 - $194,400.00
An individual’s base pay depends on a number of factors, such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation, such as a performance-based bonus and other short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401(k), and wellness benefits beginning on one’s first day of employment.
