Main Responsibilities

A Manufacturing Strategy Engineer at the Enterprise Technology Engineering Center plans, controls and implements manufacturing engineering projects for different John Deere locations worldwide. Operates in a team environment within either the Enterprise Product Delivery Process or the Factory Master Planning process. At this level, projects are of moderate-high scope and responsibility may be a significant portion of one or more projects; decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by unit managers. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work for teammates, contractors and suppliers.

What Skills You Need

  • Establishes methods, layouts, tools, costs and labor standards for current operations and/or new parts or programs.
  • Analyzes current factories capacity and identifies gaps for factory future state.
  • Collaborates in the factory/line future state definition.
  • Travels to John Deere factories for gathering information and implementing projects.
  • Proposes improvements for current operations. Investigates, gathers and analyze data and implement solutions.
  • Innovates and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas.
  • Applies electronic tools across a broad range of applications, including e-builds, modeling and simulations.
  • Develops and implements plans to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System. Improves material flow and material presentation.
  • Leads analysis, development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Background in Engineering.
  • Can participate in Cross functional forums and communicates complex ideas to different groups.
  • Skill in using computer aided design and engineering tools.
  • Understands the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP).
  • Understands the Factory Master Planning Process (FMP).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities.
  • Working knowledge of database management tools and process management systems.
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process.


Education

  • Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)

    This position is currently eligible for a partial remote arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes, and remains subject to change.
