Collins Aerospace has an immediate opening for a seasoned Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager to lead our EH&S team in Fairfield, CA. Fairfield is a large, complex site with a population of approximately 7,500 employees and contractors.

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for assisting site leadership to drive the EH&S culture throughout the business unit and is accountable, along with top management for managing and facilitating improved environmental, health and safety (EH&S) performance. This EH&S Manager is responsible to prepare regular reports and analyses for the Operations Managers of the Fairfield site to ensure we are meeting EH&S plans, targets and objectives. Role will coordinate with Collins Aerospace, business unit EH&S and other managers to ensure compliance with EH&S regulations, corrective action development and closure, and proactive project management within the operating environment of the Fairfield campus. This is a critical role with direct reports and has very high visibility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Owns the execution of long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and operational direction, typically for an entire region, country, product or business of considerable size and scope. or, Owns the establishment and execution of short- to medium-term operational plans (e.g., less than 1 year to 1-2 years) for the organization.

  • Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.

  • Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

  • Advocates the importance of Environmental, Health and Safety in the organization and actively supports the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.

  • Collaborates with operations to integrate EHS performance into Fairfield Rapids business unit operations.

  • Leads continuous improvement in EH&S while ensuring comprehensive operational compliance.

  • Leads the Environmental, Health and Safety program to achieve and maintain compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.

  • Participates in management review meetings to present EH&S performance, discuss upcoming EH&S actions to improve functional performance, and proactively identify and address EH&S issues which may affect operations or may provide strategic advantage to the business.

  • Collaborates with other EH&S professionals to establish or adopt best practices relevant to the industry.

  • Drives all EH&S regulatory reporting requirements. Responsible for appropriate procedures, approvals, coordination and control of hazardous, regulated and solid wastes.

  • Initiates, conducts and maintains records of safety training for company.

  • Acts as a partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S Program Management.

  • Has responsibility for multiple EH&S specialties.

  • May perform tasks associated with Health / Safety and Environmental / Compliance.

  • Coordinates with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices.

  • May have responsibility for medical / occupational health

  • Organizes and maintains EH&S policies to achieve and maintain compliance with regulations.

  • Manages relationships across other specialized departments to achieve and maintain compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing settings, preferably in the aerospace or electronics industries

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required. https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fairfield’s core competency of working with energetic places the Operation under the Process Safety Management (PSM) standard. Experience working in a PSM environment or with energetics is preferred.

  • Professional certification in a relevant EH&S discipline (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM)

  • EH&S Management System experience

  • Demonstrated experience in both formal and influential leadership roles

  • Communication and presentation skills

  • Proficient w/ Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Work, Excel, PowerPoint)

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
