Be part of a team of subject matter experts in EEE Components. We provide electronic parts knowledge and technical expertise to meet part requirements throughout the product development and life cycle. The Component Engineer is responsible for providing knowledge and expertise in selection, specification, application, and qualification of electronic parts for use in high reliability applications.

This position will require interfacing with, and leading design teams to assure reliable application of parts and interfacing with suppliers to assess part performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various engineering functional teams to select EEE components for high reliability applications
  • Develop specifications that define screening and qualification requirements of EEE components
  • Lead and Perform EEE Component Selection and Validation efforts
  • Lead and Perform EEE Component Failure Investigations
  • Lead and Perform specification review
  • Lead customer discussions on critical product and/ or process design
  • Lead estimation efforts for customer proposals
  • Mentor and coach junior level engineers
  • Develop specifications that define screening and qualification requirements of EEE components
  • Communicate any non-compliance incidents to pertinent parties
  • Lead and perform part assessments and obsolescence analysis
  • Lead, coordinate and perform project subtasks in order to meet customer specifications (designing, testing, etc)
  • Identify areas for technical improvement using engineering knowledge and principals

Travel within US and/ or internationally may be required - 10%

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in design, development or manufacturing of electronic hardware
  • 4+ years of experience using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • US citizenship due to export control regulations
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

WE VALUE

  • Parts Management, Parts Specialist or Component Engineering background and experience
  • Experience managing EEE parts control programs and delivering results on space programs
  • Technical knowledge of a broad range of space rated EEE part commodities and their specifications
  • Familiarity with military specifications (e.g. MIL-PRF-19500) and standards (e.g. MIL-STD-883) for EEE components
  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of space customer flow-down requirements ranging from commercial space to TOR
  • Understanding of physics behind EEE part construction such as die material, substrate, package, etc.
  • Capability to apply broad knowledge of one professional discipline or advanced knowledge of specific technical/operational practices
  • Master's Degree or advanced professional certification
  • Security Clearance
  • Influential communication skills and experience with customer, executive, and industry forum presentations and publications
  • Knowledge of product and/or process technologies
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate business impact and continuous drive for improvement
  • Ability to influence customers and cross-functional teams to deliver optimal outcomes
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to teach, mentor, and develop subject matter expertise in others

  • Capability to follow guidelines and ensure efficiency on given project tasks
