The Schwab Corporate Systems Operations Support Team, a part of the Corporate IT organization has an opportunity for a motivated engineer, to support our Internal Corporate Systems You will apply your skills to lead and deliver high-quality technology planning, installation, administration and tuning in support of a broad variety of internal systems and platforms. We work every day to ensure our internal users have a flawless experience with our internal applications. When issues arise, our team works diligently to ensure that service quality and reliability are restored.
What you’ll do:
- You will solve issues to keep our production environments functioning and our end users happy.
- You will continually look to improve the reliability and efficiency of the services by implementing monitoring, and correcting tactical and strategic direction where vital
- You will be engaged in the preparation and execution of work in several phases of the systems development life cycle including planning, configuration, monitoring, administration, and maintenance in a business-critical environment
- You will work hands on with team members to improve process, communication, capacity, documentation, reliability, and capabilities
What you are good at
Provide support for production incidents and daily batch and ETL processing- Work with technical and agile teams to prioritize backlog work and incidents
- Where possible, lead and train others within the team to increase team capabilities and capacity
- Automate deployment, infrastructure and monitoring tools and systems
- Improve, maintain and support various platforms including Linux and Windows
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing
- Develop and improve documentation, diagrams, processes and technology
- Find opportunities to improve telemetry, monitoring and increase application reliability
- Work through root cause analysis and develop remediation plans to improve reliability
- Drive resolution of issues/ completion of work and provide updates to as needed
- On call support
- Other duties as assigned
What you have
3+ years of systems support in an enterprise environment- Basic experience with SQL
- Passion for learning, reliability, automation, orchestration, and continual improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Firm Windows and or Linux experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience with Enterprise batch scheduling tools and Control M a plus
- Experience with Remedy/SmartIT a plus.
- Experience with Splunk a plus
- Experience with Control M a plus
- Experience with Ariba and Peoplesoft a plus
- Experience with Accounting, Regulatory, Vendor Management, and other areas of business Finance a plus
- An understanding of Agile practices is a plus
