Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT)

Early Childhood Associates is seeking New York State certified special education teachers to provide SEIT services to children ages 3 - 5 at preschools in Manhattan and the Bronx. As of January 2023, we have cases needing immediate assignment at well-regarded Pre-Ks in the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Morningside Heights, Midtown East, the West Village, Tribeca, and the Bronx. The cases range from 2-hours to 20-hours per week and our reimbursement rate is $70 per hour.

We are looking for SEITs who can commit at least 10-hours a week and who have not been directly employed by the DOE in the past 2 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Work 1 to 1 with children, ages 3-5 years, with developmental delays
  • Travel to children's daycare, preschool, or home to provide instruction and support
  • Collaborate with the family and a multi-disciplinary team to develop goals and outcomes for children
  • Work with family members as needed on different intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement at home
  • Maintain proper documentation to comply with state and city regulations
  • Conduct necessary evaluations and write comprehensive reports as required by NYC DOE and NYSED
  • Serve as the Coordinator of Services for each child, as mandated by the NYC DOE

Requirements:

  • Valid NYS Teacher Certification: Student with Disabilities, Birth - Grade 2, OR
  • Certified Special Education Teacher (Permanent)
  • Available to take on a case or cases totaling at least 10-hours per week
  • Not directly employed by the New York City Department of Education in the past 2 years
