Description

Position Goal: To ensure due process compliance for Special Education services as defined by federal, state and local regulations. Duties and Responsibilities: -Stay abreast of current regulations and procedures related to special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1974, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction regulations, and applicable local guidelines. -Develop practices to help meet guidelines, monitor these practices and maintain all records to certify compliance. -Inform and advise the staff of all relevant rules and guidelines to ensure compliance with State, federal and local regulations and procedures for students with disabilities. -Conduct ongoing monitoring of due process paperwork district wide ensuring the IEP meetings are properly documented and follow local, State, and federal procedures and regulations. -Address the areas of non-compliance and identify strategies and procedures for District wide compliance. -Provide one-on-one and group training sessions for cross categorical teachers and therapists on compliance procedural issues and special education technology. -Provide feedback to the Director of Student Services regarding the compliance performance of teachers and therapists. -Design and maintain databases to be used in decision-making related to special education services. -Maintain, in conjunction with the District technology staff, Oasys software. -Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot software problems associated with the data entry and document generation for special education information records. -Audit and monitor Oasys for data integrity and compliance with required reports. -Assist in preparation of local, State and federal reports. -Meet with Oasys user groups to assist in development of procedures and suggested program modifications/improvements that meet with State Department guidelines. -Attend Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction seminars and meetings, as needed. -Obtain and release pertinent records of students with disabilities who transfer in/out of District. -Participate in the development and revision of appropriate procedures and forms. -Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Qualifications

Required: -Ability to exercise independent judgment with respect to the management of compliance with special education law -Competent with technology, such as Microsoft Office, and web based applications -Possess the thinking, problem solving and technical skills for problem identification and resolutions web based applications -Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback to others -Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines -Demonstrate the ability to think dynamically, troubleshoot complex problems, and learn new technologies quickly -Read, understand, and apply complex technical information Desired: -Bachelor's Degree in Management or Communications or similar area -Knowledge of Special Education Laws and Regulations -OASYS Experience -PowerSchool Experience -Experience with State reporting data systems -WiseData Experience
