We are looking to hire a creative and proficient Sou Chef. Assisting the chef in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
  • Modify menus with the chef and create new ones that meet quality standards
  • Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
  • Supervise kitchen staff’s activities
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Recruit and manage kitchen staff
  • Rectify arising problems or complaints
  • Give prepared plates the “final touch”
  • Perform administrative duties
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Keep time and payroll records when chef is off
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a bar/ gastro pub sous Chef for 2+ years
  • Excellent record of kitchen management
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks
  • Communication and leadership skills
  • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices for specials
  • Understanding of different culinary profiles and techniques
  • Capable of following instructions without variation
  • Ability to regularly lift 35 lbs
  • A desire to learn new flavors and techniques
  • The capability to work safely, efficiently and neatly
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends
  • Comfortable working long shifts of up to 12 hrs

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Hrly: $22 - $25 per year

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Glen Cove, NY 11542: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

  • Culinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Cooking: 1 year (Preferred)
