Software Support Engineer

Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Senior Director, Software Engineering and will perform activities consistent with the position of a Production Support Engineer which will include but are not limited to:

  • Helps to resolve urgent issues in production systems by determining root causes and identifying required solutions.
  • Reproduces issues in our local code environment and identify and implement permanent solutions.
  • Ensures correctness of production database information as well as patching necessary data.
  • Available for ad hoc support outside of regular hours on a limited basis.
  • Collaborates with clients, software developers, and other business product owners to solve real time problems in our systems.
  • Creates and maintains documentation to improve support responses.
  • Upholds company values and contributes to making Genome Medical a great place to work.
  • Additional responsibilities as they relate to the position and needs of the department.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and 2-5 years' experience (non-internship) as a production support engineer or related software engineering role is required.
  • Basic coding skills in Python are required.
  • Production/L2 support experience preferred.
  • 2 years minimum experience with Python, php, javascript backend stack (React, Typescript, GraphQL)
  • Solid understanding of database principles and SQL
  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to communicate with a variety of technical and non-technical partners.
  • Ability to find creative solutions to customer issues in a live production environment and work on multiple concurrent issues simultaneously.
  • Experience working in large scale SaaS production environments is preferred.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written and listening) skills. Able to effectively articulate needs and issues and implement technical challenges and solutions to collaboratively engage all stakeholders and teammates.
  • Strong analytical and organizational mentality. Knowledge of the Genetics/Genomics or healthcare industries is a plus.
