Your Role:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for development and delivery of software in support of business capabilities and the foundational needs of the overall solution. This individual will provide technical expertise and mastery to deliver high quality software and employs software engineering methods in the delivery of the same. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for achieving high degrees of automation using well established DevOps and Agile practices working with Product Managers, business stakeholders and other technology practitioners (Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Technical Analysts, as well as Solution Architects).

Your work: (Essential responsibilities)

  • Design and deliver platform capabilities using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology aligned with platform product and architectural vision
  • Deliver design artifacts that reflect architecture and engineering standards
  • Participate in pair programming
  • Collaborate with the Personal and Commercial Lines Value Stream teams to deliver platform capabilities that enable the teams to deliver business value quickly and efficiently
  • Collaborate with Platform Product Management and Platform Architecture teams to understand the platform product and architectural vision
  • Collaborate with Platform Operations and Platform Assurance teams to triage and resolve production defects

What would make us excited about you?

  • 4+ years of overall progressive experience in software engineering
  • Experience with software development life cycle methodologies with emphasis on Agile product development, including the incorporation of quality assurance and testing techniques
  • Experience with object-oriented programming using Java, Python, or C#
  • Knowledge of developing cloud-native microservices using AWS Lambda, and Python or TypeScript
  • Knowledge of developing user interfaces using ReactJS, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud-native services like S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, Lambda, EC2, SQS, SNS
  • Experience developing platform capabilities using core insurance platforms such as Guidewire and EIS
  • Experience developing enterprise capability platforms such as digital payments, customer communications, content services, and digital experience platforms
  • Knowledge of developing platforms using modem application and integration architecture such as microservices, service mesh, event-driven and streaming architecture, cloud-native application architecture, and integrating cloud and on-premises systems
  • Knowledge of leading tools and techniques applicable to a multi-platform environment
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends, best practices, design patterns, and business processes
  • Comfortable operating in complex heterogeneous technology environments and have experience with highly integrated and mission-critical platforms and applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex organization to determine information systems needs and to build the environment to facilitate the development of systems to meet those needs
  • Experience with working in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals and passion for building an innovative culture

The national average salary range for this position is $103,770-$115,300. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full [salary range] [hourly rate range] for this position across all the states we hire in is $93,420-$138,400. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 8% of eligible pay
