Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Software Developer 4 opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Work Location: 100% remote.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (5-8s) or 9/80s
Organization/Group: SAE-2 (9V020A)
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain “Q.”

Education:
Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

Summary:
Supports software applications and systems by investigating, designing, documenting and implementing new hardware and software. Works with customers and end users to understand requirements, coordinate resources, monitor timeline, and plan, track, and execute project plan. Analyzes user requirements and evaluates work processes. Prepares concepts for information system solutions and evaluates the cost-effectiveness of these concepts.

Has broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of technical objectives and principles to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Develops and/or implements advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories. Considered an expert in the field. Works on unusually significant, unique or complex issues, provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Has impact on success of future concepts, products or technologies. Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Assignments are often self-initiated and virtually self-supervisory. Provides technical direction and/or coordinates activities of other personnel. The Software and Applications Engineering (SAE) Division supports Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) enterprise applications and performs software application development support, database development and administration, software quality management, and enterprise application consulting. The Enterprise Business Software Group (SAE-2) provides application development, commercial off-the-shelf application implementation, and adoption/integration with Software as a Service solutions.

Software Developer 4
Working alongside some of the brightest minds, you will support the development and maintenance of Enterprise Data Services, utilizing MircoStrategy. Specific duties include tasks associated with the upkeep of various MicroStrategy reports and configurations, the design and development of new reports, configurations and dossier development, and ensuring compliance with Laboratory specifications, standards, and security policies.

A selected candidate will be responsible to:
  • Develop MicroStrategy reports per customer needs and requests.
  • Update and maintain existing MicroStrategy reports.
  • Troubleshoot and performance tune any of the exiting MicroStrategy reports.
  • Develop SQL queries.
  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues.
  • Work independently and/or with the Scrum Team on Projects.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to technical staff.

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in MicroStrategy Project configuration, security, reports, and dossier development.
  • Experience troubleshooting MicroStrategy (2021 or greater) product suite software components to tune and optimize performance.
  • Experience interacting with business engagement teams to define dashboards and reporting solutions to meet diverse complex business needs
  • Experience in working with complex MicroStrategy reports using advanced filters level metrics transformation metrics and using pass-through functions in the schema objects
  • Experience in building, troubleshooting, and optimizing cubes
  • Should possess understanding and knowledge of dimensional data modeling data warehouse and reporting techniques
  • Extensive experience identifying and analyzing source data and mapping to required metrics and hierarchies using the MicroStrategy semantic layer
  • Experience with MicroStrategy tool suite (Architect, Developer, Integrity Manager, Object Manager)
  • Experience in MicroStrategy Schema object development Multi-Sourcing Intelligent Cubes and other Application Objects
  • Ability to handle diverse situations multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently or with a team on tasks and projects to deliver high-quality business solutions within aggressive business timeframes

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing tools such as Jira and/or Confluence.
  • Experience tuning SQL and troubleshooting database performance problems.
