    Douglas ESD is accepting applications for a Skills Trainer Specialist for Education for our Douglas Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education program.

    This position works 195 days, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.

    Starting Salary: $23.07 – $29.73 (depending on relevant verifiable experience)

    JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of EI/ECSE specialists, serves in a supplementary role in the support, implementation, and evaluation of skills-specific services for EI/ECSE students in community preschool sites.
    Within the guidelines and direction established by EI/ECSE specialists, provides education, support, direction, and modeling to assist children with developmental delays in community preschools placements. Responsible for implementing identified evidence-based interventions for developmental delays and providing behavioral and social skill training for identified students. Consults with EI/ECSE team, community site staff and family members regarding current needs and progress of identified students.

    • Coordinate and mentor instructional assistants and paraprofessional providers individually, and in small groups.
    • Provide ongoing technical assistance by phone or in person for paraprofessionals seeking program support and working with children, educators, and their families as directed by the EI/ECSE specialist.
    • Perform administrative activities such as scheduling meetings and trainings, data collection, and file maintenance within specified timelines.
    • Promote professional development opportunities provided through the early learning hub, parenting hub, the Oregon Department of Education and Childcare Resource and Referral.
    • Lead and model in assisting community classroom staff with helping students develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults; promoting safety of the students by helping them develop self-confidence and coping skills
    • Train and demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to apply appropriate techniques and methods of student supervision and classroom management in setting involving students with moderate to severe developmental delays, physical disabilities and/or social/behavioral problems.
