The Site Safety Manager works with Foremen, client Superintendents, Project Managers and Project Executives to administer, direct, and implement corporate safety and health policies and procedures under the direction of the Regional Safety Director . This position is responsible for assisting with overall safety management and related duties as assigned by the Regional Safety Director and President.
Responsibilities:
  • Communicate, enforce and implement comprehensive corporate safety programs
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate training for employees in compliance with Federal (OSHA) and state as well as local safety and health regulations including NFPA and ANSI Standards
  • Conduct training for Powered Industrial Trucks, scaffold, mobile work platforms, OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, HAZWOPER, and other Safety related topics as required
  • Prepare periodic reports for senior management that summarize safety compliance and program implementation
  • Track required certifications, qualifications and licenses
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of Site Specific Safety Programs and Job Hazard Analysis prior to mobilization
  • Conduct regularly scheduled work site evaluations, follow up and tracking of corrections to deficiencies
  • Periodically conduct or attend and monitor Tool Box Talks to assure documentation and quality of presentations
  • Perform root cause and incident investigation techniques in the event of a job site incident – including collection of incident reporting forms and documentation working closely with SCCI Risk Management
  • Analyze losses to identify claims trends and perform pro-active risk management planning
  • Develop curriculum, course materials and documentation on the training of employees as related to their scope of work including hoists, cranes, lifts, PITs, scaffolds, hand held tools, concrete forming, placement and finishing, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Candidate must possess Suffolk Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Hard Work and Professionalism
  • 5+ years of related work experience in field of Construction Health and Safety is preferred but not required. Familiar with Federal and State safety and health regulations, as well as best practices for safety and health
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Safety preferred but not required
  • Willingness to provide best in class customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Individual must be collaborative and positive in influencing people
  • Capacity to coordinate efforts with field staff and external partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Course preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and multi-task
New York City Pay Range: Our good faith estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is a base salary of $100,000-$220,000 if based in New York. Individual pay decisions will vary based upon the experience and qualifications of the applicant. This range is based upon NYC market rates and determined by considering many factors such as external market salary survey data, internal data for comparable roles, and the operational and budgetary objectives of the company. Suffolk also offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
