Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join our team for the upcoming school year. As a remote SLI, you will provide interpretation services for students in grades K-12, ensuring effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers and peers. This is a full-time position with a caseload spanning multiple grade levels.
Responsibilities:
- Provide remote sign language interpretation for deaf or hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, activities, and interactions.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers.
- Adhere to established sign language interpreting standards and ethics.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other professionals to ensure students' individual needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to interpretation services.
Requirements:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Experience working with K-12 students preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable internet connection and appropriate technology for remote interpreting.
- Willingness to obtain liability insurance.
