SUMMARY

Nuttall Gear Inc. is a division of Altra Industrial Motion and the leading global supplier of quality power transmission products to most major industrial markets including, but not limited to power generation, steel processing, transportation, mixing applications and lock / dam / bridge operations.

The primary duties of the Shipping Manager are to direct and coordinate activities related to the shipping of the finished product to the customer and component parts for outside processing. Coordinates the receiving of inventoried products, customer supplied products and MRO items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews bills of lading for incoming materials and customer orders to plan work activities.
  • Assigns associates to specific duties such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming materials and packaging customer orders for delivery.
  • Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates Key Performance Indicators to provide guidance and direction for Distribution employees.
  • Coordinates activities of distribution warehouse with activities of sales, record control and purchasing departments to ensure availability of material.
  • Directs reclamation of damaged material.
  • Works closely with Customer Service Department to ensure correct shipment of products, sometimes requiring tracing orders or correcting shipments
  • Coordinates with expediter and sales force to ensure same day shipment when required.
  • Coordinates with custom logistic services for heavy duty and oversized loads.
  • Provide guidance and oversee export procedures for foreign shipments.
  • Analyzes transportation and distribution methods to develop cost effective, reliable, and efficient means of delivery


Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Critical Competencies

  • Willing and able to work extended hours, including weekends as required, in order to support manufacturing needs.
  • Possess effective communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills required, ability to use Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of SAP is desired.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and motivate a team.
  • Supportive attitude for procedures, policies and initiatives in support of lean manufacturing, quality and safety.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Two Year degree strongly preferred
  • 3 years experience in a manufacturing distribution environment, preferably in inventory control and shipping.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The work environment includes a combination of time spent in an office environment and time spent in a manufacturing environment. Majority of time is spent in a manufacturing production environment with some (but not all) climate-controlled areas. Potential exposure may include, but is not limited to: solvents, dusts, lead, fiberglass, noise, heat, cold. Safety requirements including eye protection and safety shoes must be adhered to.

Potential physical demands include but are not limited to: frequent walking and standing, occasional twisting, stooping, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling; climbing, kneeling. Lifting of light to moderate weight items (up to 30 pounds) are common requirements. Potential sensory demands include, but are not limited to, hearing and seeing.
