Position Overview

The Shipping Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Plant/Warehouse management, shall have responsibility for preparation of shipping and billing paperwork, obtaining freight rates and processing sales orders.

Essential Job Functions

  • Obtain freight rates as needed.
  • Preparation and distribution of shipping and billing paperwork.
  • Coordinate all shipments for all locations.
  • Coordinating transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
  • Make special shipping arrangements as necessary.
  • Work with carrier and third-party services.
  • Communicate with carriers regarding service levels.
  • Ensure shipping carrier requirements and regulations are meet.
  • Keep, maintain, and verify records on incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy.
  • Track and respond to shipping complaints, lost items, damages, errors.
  • Update service level reports and provide analysis on finding.
  • Responding to customer inquiries regarding product movement and referring to proper channels.
  • Notify customers if shipments are delayed.
  • Determine method of shipment by utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures rates and routes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with company process.
  • Work with managers and team members to implement new strategies and initiatives.
  • Assists team members when needed to meet schedule.
  • Works with area leadership to direct workflow of team members when needed.
  • Develop process that make the supply chain more efficient and organized.
  • Follow company polices and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 - 5 years' industry related experience, in freight preferred.
  • Experience with exporting and sending freight outside the U.S. preferred.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to learn company systems.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, while assisting customers, vendors, or co-workers over the phone, email or in person.
  • Ability to work independently, be detail oriented and organized.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule, including over time, to meet business needs.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership and motivational skills.
