The Role
In this position, employees will be responsible for the working in the trailer loading operation which includes operating a forklift, handling inventory, working in & around semi-trailers, understanding the safe movement of traffic in & out of the trailer loading area, and the securing of trailers for loading. Primary Functions: • Understand Pedestrian & Mobile Equipment safety in the work area • General housecleaning of the work area • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner • Understand Plant & Distribution Safety Rules • Able to understand and apply all safety procedures • Understand and follow all SOPs related to the Distribution Trailer Loading operations • Understand all Plant emergency situations & procedures • Complete Employee Safety Orientation & all safety training programs • Report all safety incidents to Team or Group Leaders • Proper use of necessary PPE required in the Plant work areas • Ability to operate safely a powered industrial vehicle (forklift) • Proper transport and stacking of board in a safe and productive manner • Proper loading of board onto flatbed & cabana trailers. • Ensuring risers are removed from all bays when empty • Operation of propane powered forklifts to load, unload, transport and stack materials • Completion of pre –shift / walk around inspections of forklifts • Perform routine maintenance on equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, fueling or replacing propane tanks. • Proper placement of risers on board units in the warehouse • Complete inventory security in the loading process • Understand safety procedures on semi-trucks & trailers. • Complete as instructed all other job assignments that are issued by Distribution Team Leader • Ability to work OT as needed for the business.
Requirements
Previous Industrial Powered Vehicle experience a plus. • Warehouse and shipping experience a plus. • Ability to handle (lift, push, pull) up to 50lbs. • High school education or equivalent • Strong communication skills
