We are seeking Cruise Ship Boarding Agents (Ship Agents) for our Juneau maritime agency. A Ship Agent engages with cruise ship officials, crew and sometimes passengers while in port to meet and carry out specific operational needs. The Ship Agent expedites services in the field and coordinates port activities under the direction of the Administrative and Lead Agents. This role requires a skill set that is positive, happy to engage with people from all over the world, is service oriented and is able to manage time exceptionally well. This position works primarily away from the office, on ships and docks but also at nearby vendors and government offices. The goal of this position is to be the contact or face of the agency that carries out in person the myriad of services requested & arranged by the Administrative Agents and Logistics team.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure assigned tasks arranged by the Administrative Agent, Lead Agent and Logistics Coordinators are carried out in the field (the port)
  • Coordinate the delivery of mail, freight, local vendors, air cargo, provisions and spares to the ship
  • Participate in the US Customs and Border Protection inspection of disembarking passengers and crew as arranged by the Administrative Agent
  • Communicate needs in the field or on the ship to the Administrative Agent and vice versa
  • Procure items that are available in the downtown area such as incidental provisions, pharmacy, etc
  • Short run transfers of crew and passengers to/from hotels/medical appointments nearby the port area
  • Record specific port call information, updates and changes and convey to the Administrative Agent
  • Work closely with the Administrative Agent, Lead Agent and Operations Manager on daily tasks and problem solving

  • Able to drive trucks, 15 passenger vans, mini-vans, EV
  • Follow direction well and flexible with last minute changes

Requirements:
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be bondable
  • Be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalent level of education
  • Have a valid driver’s license and transportation to/from work

Compensation:
  • Starting at $18 per/DOE with overtime possible
  • Bonus upon successful completion of the season

Schedule:
  • Seasonal full-time positions and part-time positions
  • Work schedule will follow assigned cruise ship’s schedule in port 4-6 days per week and may include weekends
Relocation, Housing & Transportation are the responsibility of the employee

Applicant must be:
US Citizen or US work authorized.
Must reside in Juneau, Alaska or be able to relocate to Juneau, AK to start working by May 15th, 2023
