The Potter’s House ministries is the largest Choice Food pantry in Scioto County. We are a year-round tax preparation site for the VITA program. We also provide 275 senior commodity boxes to the lowest income senior citizens. We prepare several different applications for our community such as ACA, Medicare/Medicaid/ Heap, Pipp, FAFSA, neighbor to neighbor, and many more. We provide Christmas gifts to 200 foster and low-income children in our community. We also run a free day camp during summer months to the children in our community. Alongside that, we deliver 450 weekly food boxes to children in our county. We are constantly trying to better serve our community.
Member Duties : The VISTA will increase the number of clients in our food pantry and build more community relationships with other organizations. This role will form partnerships with others to better inform our clients of important services so that they can become more self-sufficient. The VISTA will also reach out to area businesses and organizations to locate clients that lack transportation and would benefit from our transportation services. They will conduct a survey on the need of each area of our county. The VISTA will also work to increase food poundage of nutritious foods and much needed sundry items in our pantry. To increase nutritious foods, the VISTA will create a resource guide for the different fruits and vegetables planted and harvested in our community garden for a streamlined growing procedure. Finally, this role will mobilize volunteers and community members to accomplish these goals. **Benefits include a $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.**
