Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a Food Service Tech II Part Time to perform a combination of operational tasks in support of the Nutrition Services department. Based on training, job functions will include a combination of the following: assembly of patient trays, snacks and bag meals; cleaning dishes, trays, equipment and kitchen facilities; functioning as lead worker performing opening/closing responsibilities; utilizing the CBORD system to perform daily office work – running required tickets, tallies and labels; providing storeroom assistance in receiving/stocking; providing assistance with recipe preparation/pre-portioning/product stocking; cafeteria assistance; vending; stocking; closing and support; provide Storeroom relief by managing daily operations of Nutrition Services Storeroom, as assigned . All work to be performed in accordance with rules and regulations of the Virginia Department of Health, maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.

Hiring Range $24,913 - $71,179

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for the position include High School graduate or equivalent; prior experience/training in commercial food service/food preparation, storeroom or warehouse inventory management, commercial/retail sanitation functions, or in vending operations; knowledge of HACCP and VA Department of Health policies and guidelines; good math and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal guidance is required. The ability to read tray tickets and posted job assignments is required. The ability to lift moderate to heavy objects (20-50+ lbs) is required. The ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and the ability to walk on various surfaces is required. The ability to work when needed in various environmental conditions is required. The ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions is required; Demonstrated experience with various types of databases, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree or 2 years of college in a related field, or 2 years of related job experience is preferred. Bi-Lingual in Spanish preferred. Veteran preferred.
