Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, provide technical leadership, and participate in the overall management of a Clinical Laboratory Costing Accounting System by partnering with Financial Analysts and Technical Operations by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex laboratory test costing data. Incumbent will develop and manage a system wide reference laboratory test cost database, communicate cost information, perform data quality assurance validations and provide informative/actionable reports that are responsive to the end user requirements. Perform other tasks as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Knowledge and experience with Cost Accounting practices.
2. Develop and manage a laboratory test costing database in Axiom to meet the needs of the organization as well as the needs of internal and external customers.
3. Adhere to Financial, Accounting and GAAP principles and theories.
4. Assist Technical Operations laboratory departments in analyzing and managing current Direct/Indirect costs and cost update schedules.
5. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual costing reports for review by the Director Financial Planning & Analysis and end users.
6. Serve as liaison in the resolution of day-to-day financial and operational issues. Respond to inquiries, research, and resolve problems related to Direct/ Indirect data handled by the laboratory units.
7. Assist operating departments in using financial and budgetary information to meet departmental goals.
8. Participate in Supply Chain initiatives related to testing material inventory.
9. Prepare system supported ad hoc and custom Costing/financial reports as needed
10. Perform Financial Analyst assignments as required to include budgetary activities.
11. Assist Accounting on assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Medical Technology or related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
  • Five (5) years related experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience preparing financial statements and month-end close cycle required.

PREFERENCES:
Graduate degree with a 5 to10 years’ experience in Accounting, Finance, Medical Technology or related field. Excellent Excel, analysis skills and the ability to collaborate with multi-departmental teams. Experience with SQL, relational database systems, manipulating, and data mining large databases. Reference or hospital laboratory experience.
