They focus on collaboration with forward-thinking customers to turn passion into progress as we find new ways to use science and engineering to meet the growing global demand for sustainable materials. They are looking for a Senior Research Associate to join their team. This is a full time role, direct hire, onsite in Newark, DE. The Senior Research Associate will be focused on commercializing our proprietary technology to convert renewable feedstocks (biomass) to chemicals for creating sustainable, bio-based materials. There are two key responsibilities for this role. The primary role is to focus on building and operating lab/semiworks scale chemical engineering operations in support of our long-term R&D pipeline and near-term commercialization efforts in our furanics technology platform. In this role you would work alongside a team of lab researchers, taking guidance from senior engineers and project leaders, to build lab processes, execute experimental plans, troubleshoot problems, and perform analytical workups. The types of chemistry and conditions we use will require the use of high pressure, high temperature and/or hazardous materials. As such, the role will also involve applying process safety management to the design, build and operation to ensure safe operation. The secondary responsibility of this role would be in support of our EHS and Facilities leaders, to ensure our safety program and facilities are maintained and continually improved. As a part of our safety and facilities teams, some examples of work could include supporting infrastructure improvement projects, serve as main contact point for facilities contractors, and reviewing and updating safety standards and training programs.
