POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Manager will play a key part within IIG’s comprehensive design team. This role requires an individual who is passionate about pursuing design excellence through process, teamwork, and leadership. In addition, this position carries an assumption of tenure in the design industry, as well as an extensive knowledge of design process throughout all phases. The Project Manager is highly skilled in technical knowledge to ensure quality documentation is submitted to architects, consultants, hotel brands, and/or hotel owners. A solid knowledge base for construction detailing of interior finishes, design features, and millwork is required. Projects will be assigned based on experience, knowledge, and skillset. Each project will be unique and require your abilities to continually expand in technical knowledge, as well as client and project management skills. Moreover, it is essential for the Project Manager to support IIG’s continuous learning environment by mentoring or sharing his or her knowledge with their fellow teammates. Team building and persuasive design leadership are crucial elements within this role. This individual is expected to demonstrate professionalism and sound judgement, as well alignment with IIG’s core values, guiding principles and processes.

RESPONSIBLITIES

The Project Manager is responsible for leading small to midscale projects and facilitating the day-to-day effectiveness of the project team to meet overall deadlines, project goals, and objectives for design and budget. In addition, you will create, maintain, and execute the project schedule, monitoring and evaluating project hours (with guidance from design leadership). In this position, you will play a key leadership role in the following areas: Schedule Management, Scope Management, Client Management, Effective Project Communication, Technical Coordination, and Implementation of Design. As Project manager, you will be accountable for the successful execution of the Construction Documentation Set and lead communication and coordination of technical issues with other project consultants to ensure the drawings thoroughly and completely depict the design implementation. There may be some projects you might also be assigned to the Lead design role, taking on a more comprehensive design and project management role. Finally, in this position, you will serve as the lead point of contact for the client.

DESIGN | IMPLEMENTATION | TECHNICAL COORDINATION

  • Possess proven knowledge of hotel standards, fire codes, and ADA accessibility requirements for interiors
  • Manage assigned projects and their assigned teams from start to finish with guided supervision from Studio Director and VP in charge, for the project duration
  • Hone understanding of project profitability with guidance from design leadership
  • Possess strong sketching, programming, and floor planning skills
  • Present entirely to client or conduct client calls, providing adequate notes and downloads for next steps (as required)
  • Adhere to the terms of the Interior Design Agreement executed between the firm and the client and/or any sub-consultants
  • Prepare PDF Plans, FF&E, and concept imagery presentations and material palettes when assigned as Lead.
  • Possess proven knowledge of durability standards, installation, and construction methods
  • Select interior finishes and furnishings communicating with manufacturer’s representatives to research material selection costs and specification information to ensure appropriate selections are made for the project budget with minimal direction from design leadership when assigned as Lead
  • Serve as lead technical support on projects, lead the construction document process and consultant coordination, and provide production support (as needed) to ensure quality and timely completion of any deliverables
  • Possess strong technical knowledge for creating specifications and installation coordination of FF&E furnishings, decorative lighting, and other related interior design contract documents with a proven knowledge of contract hospitality sourcing and suppliers
  • Participate in on-site field measures or site visits individually or with design leadership
  • Manage project CA scope and maintain submittal logs. Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings and submittals with minimal oversight from design leadership
  • Understand IIG’s contracted scope of services for assigned projects and guiding the project to stay within the agreed upon scope.
  • Identify potential additional services and coordinate with design leadership to request from client.
  • Possess strong time management skills and models a highly organized approach to the design process resulting in on time, on budget deliverables

PROJECT TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Collaborate with design leadership to ensure project needs are satisfied by effectively managing design staff and ensuring efficient utilization of resources
  • Assign tasks to project team and monitor day-to-day staff progress
  • Provide clear communication of work assignment expectations, keeping the project team on track, and meeting utilization targets using the Project Tracker
  • Create and track project schedule; aligning schedule with project hours in Infocus (hour reporting tool), tracking project time to complete tasks, and reduce staff overtime
  • Responsible for project hour management and meeting billable hour targets, with guidance from senior design leadership
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and reinforce the firm’s mission and vision.
  • Oversee the design team progress on selection of interior finishes and furnishings and presentation development – ensuring all work in progress meets project goals for review with design leadership
  • Highly organized ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while consistently achieving high standards and goals
  • Strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills

CLIENT MANAGEMENT

  • Provide timely responses to client needs
  • Daily manage all client relations and correspondence with guided supervision from senior management
  • Ensure project satisfaction, meeting client’s criteria for aesthetics, function, budget, and schedule
  • Prioritize building and maintaining the client trust and relationship
  • Communicate project information internally and externally, ensuring the client, project team, and IIG management are all receiving timely project information and updates

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | LICENSING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • 5+ years hospitality design experience (preferred)
  • NCIDQ or NCARB (preferred)
  • LEED-AP (in progress, preferred)
  • State License (Florida) (preferred)

COMPUTER PROGRAMS

  • AutoCAD (advanced proficiency and 5+ years’ experience required)
  • Revit (advanced proficiency and 5+ years’ experience required)
  • Adobe Photoshop (advanced proficiency desired)
  • Adobe InDesign (intermediate proficiency desired)
