Position Summary: Senior Product Owner, Enterprise Solutions

We are looking for a Senior Product Owner to own the marketing, launch, business development, and technical development work with our software development team to bring to market and extend our custom cloud-based grant management solution. In this role you will use Agile practices to define and prioritize the product backlog, set acceptance standards, and operate at the intersection of our clients, business teams, stakeholders, and software engineering.


The ideal candidate will be an individual with a history of interfacing across multiple business units, an expert at collecting and documenting business requirements, an experienced agile story writer, a self-starter, and a result driven individual with a passion for software development.


Job Duties and Responsibilities include:


  • Develops a strategic marketing plan in coordination with the marketing and communications team.
  • Serves as a product evangelist with clients and at tradeshows
  • Drives product vision and alignment within strategic priorities with stakeholders’ input.
  • Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its contents, prioritization, and acceptance criteria.
  • Accountable for clear, actionable user stories.
  • Communicates the product vision to the software engineering team.
  • Responsible for establishing influential relationships with key internal and external business partners and strategic partners by effectively communicating and delivering technical solutions.
  • Sets and manages priorities within and across different development teams and stakeholders and actively participates in team planning.
  • Sets expectations with stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities, and maintains a detailed product roadmap.
  • Participates in team demos, retrospectives, and all other ceremonies.
  • Participates in validation, testing and final approval of features prior to end user acceptance.
  • Monitors and maintains the product health, supporting long-term product viability and efficiency, and balancing long and short term and costs with desired outcomes.
  • Owns the relationship with third-party products and services being used by the platform, and confirms acceptance of their use with the security teams.
  • Analyzes feasibility, cost, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product.
  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills and proven ability to work with diverse personality types.
  • Demonstrate understanding of projects from the perspective of technology and business.
  • Documents, Assesses and Prioritizes the remediation of technical debt.
  • Develops training strategy and documentation plans
  • Coordinates regular security reviews and testing requirements with the security team and dev teams.
  • Establishes acceptable product and process controls to align with industry best practices.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience managing a software development budget and communicating project burn rate.
  • Experience reviewing third-party API integration documentation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and facilitate meetings with team members and business partners across the organization.
  • Proven record of delivering key technology solutions to business partners
  • Skilled at translating business needs into technology features or stories.
  • Preferred experience with one or more Agile tools (VSTS, Jira, Version One) and agile frameworks (Kanban, Scrum, Lean etc.)
  • Experience with Postman, rest APIs, SendGrid and Twilio a plus.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Engineering or Computer Science preferred) or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst or Systems Analyst role with experience working on an Agile/Scrum team
  • Prior cloud based product owner experience
