Job description
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Installation, configuration, and support of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system.
  • Maintain network hardware and software.
  • Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement
  • network security measures.
  • Provide leadership/mentorship to junior & mid-level network engineers. Oversees network control center.
  • Provide support to projects that involve networks.
  • Perform a full range of complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network.
  • Evaluate new network technologies and makes recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network.
  • Plan new configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of performance characteristics of systems being added on the network and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate planning is provided for hardware and communications facilities to develop and implement methodologies for analysis, installation and support of voice communications systems.
  • Provide support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders the overarching INFOSEC and
  • COMSEC security requirements for the Agency network add to the complexity of these positions.
  • Ensure quality processes are in place with constant review.
  • Provide weekly and monthly status reports documenting work performed.
Customer Relationship:
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction for on-site and remote customers.
  • Respond to service, product, and customer questions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Required (per DoD Directive 8570.1)
  • MA/MS with 10+ years OR BA/BS with 12+ years
  • Certification Required: CCNP Enterprise Core with Implementing Cisco Enterprise Advanced Routing and Services (ENARSI) Elective OR CCNP Security
  • At least 8 - 10 years of experience supporting Cisco networks in a medium size IP network that encompasses routing, switching and VoIP communications.
  • Ability to support, troubleshoot and maintain high availability DOD networks to include device patching and upgrades.
  • Extensive experience of Cisco products is required (7+ years).
  • Must qualify for TESA.
