Position Summary

Walmart Connect is seeking an experienced Data Stewardship and Governance leader who will focus on the development of systems, processes, programs, and policies that guide the protection and curation of valuable Walmart omnichannel and user data. You will lead the strategic effort around use of data as well as inform the organization’s data and privacy strategy. We are looking for demonstrated performance in a constantly changing, ambiguous environment, and problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.

Position Description

• Develop, promote, and manage policies and processes regarding data to and use of data at non-Walmart entities, including assessment strategy, internal communications and training, and on-going program management.
• Design and iterate on privacy-related guidelines and procedures. Strategically evaluate legislative and platform-level privacy implementations and their impact to the business to drive solutioning.
• Contribute to business strategy and policy/legal initiatives to mitigate data leakage and privacy risk
• Work cross-functionally with Walmart compliance, governance, and legal teams to ensure adherence to Walmart’s corporate data governance and privacy policies and standards.
• Define, develop, and document procedures for increasing data availability and quality while promoting responsible data usage and access controls.
• Lead and manage proactive development of core data governance platform, as well as governance and privacy features and tooling.
• Guide analytics, product, and engineering teams during development processes to ensure data collection and usage practices are properly vetted and secured.
• Respond to data leakage and privacy incidents including, but not limited to, collection of information and documentation of root causes and managing remediation plans

Required Skills and background:

• Bachelors or Masters degree
• 5+ years of experience in development and management of data governance programs with related role experience in concepts and practices such as data classification, data sharing and information security, auditing and reviewing access to data, CCPA/CPRA program implementation, and writing data protection policies.
• Experience in documentation of data lineages, maintaining data catalogs, and ensuring measurable data quality and data protection practices
• Experience in protection of user privacy with understanding of technical privacy issues, such as cookie management, anonymization techniques, and encryption. IAPP certification a plus.
• Experience with advertising and associated technologies
• Demonstrated consulting skills with emphasis on communication, presentation, and project management experience.
• Ability to communicate across disciplines (e.g. analytics, engineering, legal, policy)
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage projects, communicate effectively and be a self-starter.
• Demonstrated thought leadership and relationship building/management with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Product, Marketing, Strategy and Operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in backend data architecture and infrastructure design
• Knowledge of advertising tracking and measurement systems
• Code maintenance and review experience in one or more languages
• Knowledge of analytic, data science, and machine. learning techniques

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
