As a Senior Manager of Contracts for the Clinical Trials Division you will support, the Pharma Services Group (PSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific, by negotiating a variety of customer facing agreements globally. Getting deals done that all parties believe are fair, durable, and lay the foundation for long term partnerships is how you will make valuable contributions.


This is a full time, permanent opportunity with 100% remote working within the UK.

What will you do?


  • Draft and negotiate both routine and non-routine contractual agreements. The complexity of agreement may vary from moderate to complex. Must be experienced in redlining legal agreements.
  • Leads or participates in the contract negotiation process and have the ability to negotiate contentious issues at multiple levels both internally and with the client, keeping risk exposure in mind.
  • Be fully accountable for the outcome of negotiations and ensure conformity to business needs, accurate risk allocation and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Be a negotiator willing to stand up to unprincipled techniques and pressures.
  • Interface efficiently with internal partners and customers to influence and provide direction to guide the contracting process.
  • Generate options and solutions to break through impasses that work for all parties.
  • Continually strive to make the contracting process more efficient, effective, and customer centric.
  • Follow and help improve the tools used to ensure consistency in processes and ensure maximum situational awareness for all internal partners throughout the contract process to improve turnaround time a growing client base.
  • Maintain and use the database within the contract management system of current and terminated contracts and coordinate processes to track contract flow and contractual obligations.
  • Serve as the main liaison between the client and the manufacturing sites and business units in Europe and the Middle East during the contract negotiation phase of a project.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment with internal partners and sell the value of the contracting role to: sales, finance, marketing, legal, quality, and site management/operations.
  • Be able to mentor and develop team members.
  • Participate on internal meetings to provide information and update on business and contracting issues.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
People Management:
Build successful work environments and provide support and mentorship to your team ensuring high levels of performance. Complete People Management tasks for your team including, but not limited to: attracting and selecting talent, onboarding and training, setting clear goals and performance expectations, providing open, timely and useful feedback, conducting appraisals and development discussions.


Who we are looking for:


  • Advanced business degree such as an MBA or Law Degree preferred but not required
  • Strong PQE (preferably in-house or in a full-service international law firm) with proficient contract negotiation experience
  • Customer facing contract negotiation experience with the ability to work to work under different pressures from both customers and internal partners
  • Leadership experience as this role will involve managing 1 direct report
  • Fluent in the English language
