The Senior Director of Contracting is accountable for contract negotiations for value based care risk ("B360") deals, Fee For Service (FFS) virtual care, and any other revenue-generating contracting work across the enterprise. Clients and partnerships may be broadly across the healthcare sector; i.e. medical groups, payers, hospital systems, and employers, and will primarily be domestic in focus (with sporadic international work).
This position will play an integral role in driving the company's performance by building, optimizing, and expanding our commercial business. This is not a run of the mill, traditional contracting position - the role is dynamic, influential, and often client facing. The role needs a driven, motivated, and experienced healthcare leader.
This position will be in a leadership role, directing the contracting efforts alongside other senior leaders within the organization, supporting and collaborating with a deal team that includes: sales, analysts, finance, actuary, operational, and clinical subject matter experts. This role sits within the Babylon business development team, which is part of the commercial Go To Market (GTM) department.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
- Creatively develop value based arrangements and financial structures to solve clients' complex digital & virtual healthcare needs.
- In partnership with other leaders, influence and drive strategy decisions within the GTM department.
- Lead the development of the contract strategy for each negotiation. Negotiate value-based contracts, terms & language, with an emphasis on global percent premium deals with a variety of clients.
- Work very closely with the sales teams, account leads, etc in communications and interactions with the client; be the subject matter expert on all things value based care, particularly on the flow of funds, risk terms and options
- Work closely with the internal legal team on long-form contracts and language
- Draft contracts, term sheets, statements of work, letters of intent, etc.
- Provide, analyze, and develop pro formas for clients and internal stakeholders as the GTM team pushes deals through the sales cycle.
- Articulate the value and risks of potential deals to internal decision makers as part of approval and sign off process.
- Collaborate broadly with internal operations and product teams in developing overall scope and plan for contract
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, healthcare administration, or a related field is required; preference for a masters or other continued education.
- Strong professional experience in healthcare; preferably 10+ years in the field.
- Experience with successfully executing and implementing value based and global risk contracts, among other more traditional managed care contracting.
- Experience leading teams and developing talent.
- Ability to handle ambiguity, find creative solutions, and prosper in such an environment.
- Talent for developing systems and operational processes.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills with a proven ability to manage multiple contract negotiations and provider accounts in parallel
- Ability to effectively engage managed healthcare executives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners.
