JOB SUMMARY:

The Development Analyst will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and senior management in the pursuit of new real estate developmental opportunities as well as a broad range of business decision analytics. Oversight of these functions and performance of all related duties in production of an excellent work product will need to be performed with minimal direction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the ground up development team to perform financial modeling on potential investment opportunities in targeted real estate markets with Avanti Residential’s proprietary Excel based financial model.
  • Generate supportable income, expense, and capital improvement projections.
  • Analyze different financing and stress test scenarios.
  • Work with equity development team to help source deal opportunities that fit the differing investment strike zones of our various investment partners.
  • Help identify and develop business plans to successfully drive yield.
  • Perform market survey, demographic, and economic analysis to determine supportive submarket locations.
  • Maintain and expand the functionality of Avanti Residential's proprietary Excel based financial model.
  • Perform key role in new development sites, opportunities, due diligence analysis, and ongoing financial underwriting.
  • Assist development team in assembling investor information and legal materials.
  • Produce financial packages for debt and equity.
  • Collaborate with asset management team on business plan development.
  • Contribute to various aspects of transaction management.
  • Develop financial forecasts of investor yields in potential disposition or recapitalization scenarios.
  • Successfully translate return of capital legalese in operating agreements to accurate Excel-based financial waterfalls.
  • Source loan quotes from lending partners on potential new acquisitions as well as existing asset refinance or supplemental loans.
  • Communicate with investors on questions and requests on an as needed basis.
  • Assist the asset management team in preparing Excel-based weekly and monthly property reports.
  • Develop proprietary complex Excel models as needed to inform management of operation metrics.
  • Assist acquisitions team in gathering and analyzing market and economic information.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally work overtime.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to tour sites—Drive Lender/Equity tours. Work in the office MOST of the time.
Requirements:

Key Competencies:

  • Thorough understanding of commercial real estate finance and variation.
  • Microsoft Excel and database management knowledge.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal and written communication skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or real estate required.
  • Master’s degree with an MBA in Real Estate preferred.
  • 3+ years of multi-family commercial real estate experience required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of valid driver’s license and up to date vehicle insurance OR reliable transportation.
  • Pass criminal background screening prior to employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normal office setting
  • May travel to properties owned and operated by Avanti or other business-related locations/events as required.
  • Must be able to follow directions, be innovative and resourceful, provide excellence customer service, always display respect and professionalism.
  • Able to constantly read, sit, and lift 30 lbs.
