Job Description:
This posting is for a Senior CAT Analyst position in the Global CAT & Exposure Management Department of Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. Working alongside the Global Catastrophe Exposure Manager and members of the senior leadership team, this role will drive the monitoring effort of the company’s catastrophe exposure accumulation (e.g. cyber, terrorism, liability) and help guide discussion on Everest Insurance’s catastrophe management strategies.
This position provides senior leadership with analytical insights that drive decisions for key portfolio functions such as strategic planning, reinsurance hedging, and catastrophe model selection and analysis. In addition, this position will work with other units such as Underwriting, Technology, and Operations on cross functional projects.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Inform senior management of our global exposure accumulation for the man-made catastrophes (e.g. cyber, terrorism, liability).

Enhance our ability to capture and report on exposure information; Improve existing automation tools and build new automations between systems and other existing tools.

Improve our understanding of tail risk by enhancing loss models that calculate Exceedance Probability curve.

Assist senior leaders with the evaluation of new CAT market opportunities and emerging technologies, including new insurance programs, underwriting strategy, models, and software tools.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
-
Five years or more of P&C experience in adjacent roles, working in portfolio management function in Insurance/Reinsurance or other similar risk-focused financial services firms

Experience in man-made catastrophe models such as Cyence a plus

Demonstrable rock-solid programming experience. Must be able to write SQL fluently.

A history of using Python, C#, or other languages to automate data flow and workflow processes across multiple enterprise products.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience explaining complex technical and analytical concepts to business colleagues and senior management.

Excellent problem solver: apply logic and reasoning to identify pros/cons of possible solutions, think through all angles and future implications when making decisions.

Bachelor’s degree in STEM majors, finance, economics, or business.
For NYC Only: The base salary range for this position is $70,000-$115,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
