Position: Senior Business Analyst

Location: Eagle Mine, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA

General Description: Responsible for providing accounting and analytical support for the Eagle Mine operations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing accounting/analytic support for the Eagle Mine LLC operations
  • Assisting cost center owners in understanding and managing their costs & metrics/KPI’s
  • Lead role in assigned areas for month-end financial close and preparation of timely/accurate reports & variance analysis; provide feedback for actionable opportunities
  • Department liaison with the mine site staff and management for financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting, analysis of third-party contractor data
  • Assist with annual budget and forecasting processes and reporting under direction of finance department leadership team
  • Reporting as required including third-party contractor cost reporting, defining operating expense, capital reporting requirements for mine site, monthly department reports, site capital management process, as well as other reporting duties as assigned
  • Responsible for project cost control of mine site projects, works with technical managers(s) on project planning, and department member on project steering committees as assigned by project
  • Data and business intelligence report design and analysis
  • Works with the team in setting and analysis of the standard/inventory costing system in the enterprise resource planning system (SAP)
  • Analyze and interpret financial and production data to assist with decision-making
  • Understand the business unit’s operating processes, metals inventory flow, revenue streams, and cost flows
  • Follow up and respond to site and corporate queries
  • Interaction with internal and external auditors including compliance requirements
  • Undertake ad-hoc analysis and evaluation of issues as required
  • Other duties as required

Education, qualifications, and experience:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Strong analytical skills, competence in all Microsoft desktop products and good communication skills are pre-requisites. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with all levels of management and professionals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other major ERP preferred
  • Sound understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an accounting/business analysis
  • Prior experience in mining or manufacturing industry an asset
  • C.P.A., C.M.A. or equivalent a plus

  • Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn’t cause undue community impacts.
  • Participate in HSEC training provided to them
  • Report all incidents; including but not limited to injuries, near miss, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, unsafe work practices, etc.
