The job of Senior Advisor, Corporate Communications plays a critical role in telling the story of Phillips 66 to external stakeholders – helping to manage media relations, developing messaging for C-suite executives, creating strategic content for external distribution, and managing workstreams.

The ideal candidate will have a range of experience working in corporate communications and/or covering energy at an industry publication, wire service or major metro daily, experience interacting with senior executives and news media, as well as experience managing projects.

Responsibilities May Include:
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Senior Advisor will do everything from writing press releases to drafting talking points to maintaining calendars.

Working with Communications staff, subject matter experts and senior executives, including the CEO, the Senior Advisor will interact with media covering the company while creating content that supports the company’s vision, values and strategic goals. Work will be fast-paced and demanding and will require an understanding of the businesses and corporate functions within Phillips 66 as well as the changing media landscape.

Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

Bachelor's Degree or higher

7 or more years of professional work experience in communications or public affairs

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels

Strong writing skills

Adept at all means of communication for external audiences

Experience researching, writing, producing and editing communications including digital stories, video scripts/production, talking points and PowerPoint presentations

Strong digital skills

Experience using communication measurement tools to gauge effectiveness of communications plans

Working knowledge of AP style with experience in editing and proofreading

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

Ability to travel as required up to 20% (additional travel may be required at times)

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters’ degree or higher in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations

Experience in corporate communications and/or as a reporter in journalism covering energy

Experience interacting with media, either in public relations and/or as a reporter or editor

Experience tracking and managing workstreams

Proficiency in digital design and presentation building

Proficiency with scripting, shooting, editing and producing videos

Creative and strategic thinking with experience developing, executing and measuring strategic communications programs and campaigns

Ability to work with wide latitude using independent judgment and taking responsibility for project success
