GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs difficult skilled technical work assisting the Sheriff department with administrative and clerical tasks, coordinating and attending meetings and transcribing meeting minutes; preparing, processing, and completing required reports and documents; processing payroll, and related work as apparent or assigned.

  • Assists the general public by phone, email, and in person; directs inquiries to the appropriate resource as needed.
  • Processes payroll operations for the Sheriff department; monitors and maintains time records; reviews union contracts to ensure compliance.
  • Assists, updates, and maintains department social media and website.
  • Organizes and processes reports, composes, and types correspondence, researches data for various program analyses.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Sheriff department and other county staff.
  • Conducts interviews; provides recommendations to the department head on training employees; coordinates work schedules and assists staff with assignments as needed.
  • Creates and maintains employee identification cards.
  • Develops outreach and marketing materials for programs.
  • Assists staff with difficult situations; provides back-up supervision to divisions of the Sheriff department; serves on department Executive Team; ensures operations are in compliance with processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for annual completion of the MCOLEs annual registration report.
  • Assists with grant requests and submission.

MINIMUM OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates/Technical degree in business administration, or related field.
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience assisting with and coordinating
administrative operations within a government setting, or equivalent combination of
education and experience
✓ Ability to obtain Michigan State Police Law Enforcement Information Network
certification and become a Notary Public upon 6 months of hire.
✓ Ability to obtain State of Michigan Freedom of Information Act, Firearms, and Sex
Offender training within 6 months of hire.
✓ Valid driver’s license in the State of Michigan
