Senior Accountant
American Cruise Lines, the world’s leading small ship cruise line, is seeking a motivated and talented Senior Accountant. We currently have 14 vessels that travel throughout the country. We are an all American company, meaning our boats are built here and the crew is all American. We travel through the East Coast, Mississippi River, the Pacific Northwest, and Alaska. You will be working alongside a dedicated and loyal Accounting team based out of our Guilford, CT office.
Responsibilities
- Fixed asset processing and reporting.
- Prepare and record deposits. Reconciliation of cash receipts to the GL, follow up on discrepancies.
- Review bank statements and prepare bank reconciliations.
- Assist accounts payables team with approvals and documentation review.
- Perform credit card reconciliations, gathering necessary information from cardholders in order to properly post transactions to GL.
- Record various journal entries ensuring appropriate support is maintained.
- Reconcile accounts to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
- Auditing and verifying documents.
- Following internal controls.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist with audits and taxes as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- 3+ years experience in Accounting.
- Strong Communications Skills.
- Strong Computer Skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Accuracy in daily work and other projects.
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
- Adherence to policies, procedures and instructions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Public Accounting experience preferred.
