Job description
The Behavioral Center of Michigan, an accredited psychiatric hospital providing high levels of psychiatric care to adult patients and committed to person focused care is looking for a Security Officer to be responsible for protecting patients, visitors, employees, and hospital property by rounding in assigned areas, engaging patients, and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment while enforcing hospital policies. Participates in creating a nonviolent community management system with staff and patients through education and role modeling of verbal and nonverbal interventions and techniques.
Formal Education Required:
- High school diploma
- Associate Degree preferred
Experience & Training Required:
- Prior experience in a customer service role is preferred
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training – provided during orientation
- Experienced with handling aggressive, cognitively impaired, and psychotic persons
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
- Ability to be matrix managed with differing levels of reporting and accountability
- Demonstrates excellent engagement skills with patients, visitors, and staff as a cooperative team player
- Ability to operate computers, copiers, and other business machines
- Ability to accurately collect and complete data entry
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records and any unit event
-Ability to conduct video investigations and reviews
-Conduct weekly and monthly safety inspections
