General Responsibilities

Patrol and inspect property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activity. Become closely acquainted with the property including room numbers, pool area, inner hallways, and outer perimeters. Enforce hotel rules set forth by upper management to ensure safety of all guests. Effectively communicate to management any situations that may have occurred.

Supervision Received/Provided

This position receives direct supervision by the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or the assigned manager on duty.

Essential Duties

• Walk the inner and outer perimeters of the property to present a security presence to all guests and visitors.
• Regularly report to the manager on shift to discuss any trouble areas around the hotel.
• Carry a radio and always monitor for any staff members needs for security assistance.
• Frequently walk through the pool area checking for food, glass, or any rules being violated that could cause injury to a guest or damage to our property.
• Observe and log any maintenance needs you run across while doing property walks.
• Respectfully speak to any guest not following the rules set forth by the hotel and offer alternative solutions, when possible, to provide great guest service.

Task List

• Assist other departments when needed and when hotel occupancy allows.
• Acknowledge hotel guests by saying hello or helping while doing property walks.
• Repair any light maintenance needs such as light bulbs and plunging toilets.
• Picking up and disposing of any trash found in hallways, common areas and parking lots as needed.
• Assist the front desk with the 10pm and 11pm closing of the pool area.

Other Duties

• Assist the front desk with guest requests such as extra pillows, towels, and blankets.
• Assist all hotel staff with emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
• Report on any safety issues or ways to improve safety for management.
• Work with or assist any emergency professionals that may have been called to the hotel for an emergency.

Required Education/Certifications/Training/Experience

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Some post high school education in a field related to hospitality may accelerate promotional opportunities.
• No prior experience required but preferred
• Read and follow the rules and procedures provided in the employee handbook

Technical Skills and Abilities

• Have knowledge of all hotel emergency procedures, especially fire prevention and emergency procedures.
• Ability to perform job functions to standards under pressure
