What You Will Contribute


An exciting opportunity is available for a talented Scientist or Senior Scientist to join the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Development Sciences team at Altos Labs.

We are seeking very highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individuals who are passionate and dedicated to employing their expertise to restore cell health and resilience and reverse disease. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the IOM to develop novel therapeutic projects and pipelines at Altos. The candidate will work in a highly dynamic and cross-functional environment that requires collaboration with the Institutes of Science and may span multiple therapeutic areas and approaches. The successful candidate will have strong molecular biology skills, cell culture experience and ideally experience in the pre-clinical stage development of novel therapeutics, such as cell/gene therapy and nucleic acid therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with project leads and other functions of the Development Sciences team to perform critical experiments and ensure critical project goals and timelines are met.
  • Work closely with the Institute of Science to help shepherd projects, assays, and techniques into the IOM and help translate/validate discoveries.
  • Responsible for the development, validating/qualifying, and implementation of biological and bioanalytical methods and assays for prioritized IOM projects.
  • Contributes to the discovery and validation of novel biomarkers for prioritized IOM projects.

Requirements:


Candidates with strong experience in the following fields are preferred:

  • Comprehensive and solid experience in general molecular biology and cell culture techniques are required for this role.
  • Expertise in pre-clinical biomarker discovery, development, and assay validation is highly desired.
  • Extensive experience in bioanalytical methods and assay development across multiple platforms (e.g., ELISA, MSD, Luminex) is highly desired.
  • In-depth experience in multi-parameter flow cytometry (e.g., surface staining, nuclear antigens, viability, proliferation, cytokines, etc.), including panel development and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in gene editing and genome engineering technologies.
  • Experience in stem cells and/or tissue biology.
  • Expertise in viral and non-viral gene therapy delivery technologies, including Lentiviral and AAV, is desired.
  • Familiarity with the applications of bioinformatics and machine learning in biological experimentation is a strong plus.
  • Experience with performance of experiments in mouse models is a plus.

Who You Are:

Minimum requirements for the Scientist role include:

  • PhD. in Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or related fields with an independent ability to formulate scientific questions, design strategies, and implement the plans effectively.
  • Proven experience focusing on the development of gene therapy, cell therapy or nucleic acid therapeutics.
  • Highly collaborative and communicative across different disciplines and functions.
  • Demonstrated high productivity and ability to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Documents laboratory procedures and experiment data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify potential issues, test, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to organize work and set priorities.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to attune through writing and presentations to a variety of audiences including senior executives to entry-level employees.
  • Advanced proficiency with Google apps, Excel, and PowerPoint graphic skills to produce documents.

Scientist I salary range is $121,550-$164,450

Scientist II salary range is $143,000-$220,780

Senior Scientist salary range is $166,000-$268,800
