Job Summary and Qualifications

Conducts independent, scientific, studies and research in the field of nursing. The primary focus of the nurse scientist includes:

• Provide leadership in development, coordination, management of clinical research studies;
• Provide mentorship for nurses and health professionals in research and evidence based projects;
• Contribute to overall health science literature;
• Develop a portfolio of independent research to achieve the primary objectives.

Major Responsibilities Include:

• Role Model- Provide leadership in the organization and development of nursing and transdisciplinary research programs within a designated service line/area at Mission Health, community partners and affiliates.
  
• Provide mentorship for nurses and health professionals in research.
  
• Contribute to overall health science literature.
  
• Develop a portfolio of independent/collaborative research to achieve the primary objectives.

What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: PhD/DNP in Nursing, or related field (Must have BSN &/or MSN if PhD/DNPif not in nursing). Would consider person in final stages of completing doctoral work (candidacy) with degree completion within defined time frame, not to exceed 2 years.

Required License: Current licensure as Registered Nurse with the North Carolina Board ofNursing or Compact State as defined by NC Board of Nursing

Required Experience: 5 years of active clinical experience in service line/area; Experience with nursing research program highly desirable; publication experience highly desirable.

Preferred Experience: Completed dissertation and post graduate research; experience with grant writing and managing the grants process.
