Hines Building Maintenance (HBM) is looking for alert individual with great communication skills to monitor campus safety at an independent private school.

The schedule is 8am - 430 pm Saturday and Sunday.

The Safety Monitor is responsible for monitoring the campus and enforcing safe school practices and visitor protocols. They manage the drop-off and pick-up process of students to ensure the safety of students and staff crossing the street. They monitor the front desk and entrance areas to check-in visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Walk and survey hallways, common areas, interior and exterior grounds, and parking lots to enforce safe school policies.
  • Welcomes, assists and answer inquiries from students, visitors, and staff in a supportive and professional manner.
  • Monitors during drop off/pick up times of students and staff and escort students and staff crossing the streets.
  • Contacts Security or proper authorities in a timely manner when needed.
  • Provides high visibility to act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior, loitering, and disruptive behavior.
  • Firmly and courteously request compliance to persons violating safety policies which are deemed a risk to students, staff, and campus.
  • Escort visitors to ensures visitor protocols are followed.
  • Helps with event set up and tear down.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to use sound judgement in difficult situations and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with staff in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and de-escalation techniques.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 1 year after entering position.

Preferred work experience:

1 year in a school setting or similar

Working knowledge of two-way radio

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, pull, push 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time during a shift.

Other Requirements: Must be able to pass federal background check. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 due to the requirements of the client.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $24.00 per hour
