POSITION SUMMARY
:

Pending student enrollment, CCPS expects to have vacancies for school nurses in grades K – 5, and 6-8 in each regional elementary and middle school and Calvert Country School for an in-person summer school program.

  • Elementary summer school will run June 26 - July 27 (4 weeks) Monday – Thursday for 3.75 hours. The workday for nurses is 4 hours.
  • Middle School summer school will run June 26 – July 27 (4 weeks) Monday – Thursday for 3.75 hours. The workday for nurses is 4 hours.
  • Calvert Country School summer school will run July 5 – July 27 (4 weeks) Monday – Thursday for 3 hours. The workday for nurses is 4 hours.
  • School nurses will be responsible for administering the medical needs of students.
  • Summer school nurse position availability is contingent on student enrollment and the medical needs of the students.
  • School nurses will be required to attend 4.5 pre-service hours and 4.5 post-service hours to include completion of end of program required documentation.
  • Position availability and work location is contingent on student enrollment.
  • Positions remain open until filled.


School nurses applying for these positions must agree to abide by safety protocols due to COVID-19. Protocols may include but are not limited to wearing of mask, practicing social distancing, frequent hand washing, cleaning of instructional materials.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
:

Pay rate is based on the 2021-2022 Workshop Pay and Special Pay for Employees.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing program for a registered nurse. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Active license as a registered nurse in the state of Maryland.
  • Current American Heart Association certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (AED) for health care providers

Prior to the filling of any vacancy, permanent employees who have requested a transfer in a timely manner shall be afforded an opportunity meet with the supervisor of the position for which the vacancy exists.


State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.


House Bill 486 – Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Statement

Pursuant to Section 6-113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland - House Bill 486 - Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention, all applicants are required to report all former employment where direct contact with minors may have occurred.
