Middle School Counselor
This full-time position in the secondary building begins with the 2023-24 school year.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Facilitate communication between students, parents and teachers
Ability to build relationships with students and families
Monitor and support students in maintaining satisfactory academic, engagement and attendance progress
Facilitate communication between students, parents, teachers and other support staff
Participates as a member of the student assistance and special education teams.
Act as a liaison between family, school and community; maintains a working relationship with community agencies and services.
Provide student crisis counseling and intervention when needed
Provide ongoing social and emotional support to students
Ability to provide direct social/emotional /mental health services, individual and group to students.
Conflict mediation and crisis management skills.
Process new middle school enrollments from initial contact until fully enrolled
Process student class scheduling and provide guidance as appropriate
Other duties may be assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Current Minnesota License as a School Counselor
