Work Location: South California (Imperial Valley or Bakersfield Area)

The SCADA/Coms Technician is a seasoned technician/professional with four or more years of experience with utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) SCADA and controls experience. Will be responsible for control system maintenance and operation of assigned utility scale generation solar project to ensure optimal generation performance of the company’s solar photovoltaic (PV) plant portfolio. Overall responsibilities will include technical support and hands on programming assistance for process optimization and process control; including monitoring of all electronic control systems, monitoring systems, safety systems, information technology and communications systems. Trouble shoot systems and equipment with minimal help and supervision.

The SCADA/Coms Tech will work closely with other team members to safely achieve overall Solar performance goals.

Responsibilities

· The SCADA/Coms Technician is responsible for field maintenance and troubleshooting of Control Systems, IT, and communication systems.

· Follow Health, Safety and Security procedures to work safely under all circumstances, seeking guidance regarding unfamiliar work to ensure safety and understanding of tasks to be performed

· Identify electrical, environmental, and safety hazards associated with photovoltaic (PV) installations

· Perform SCADA support for site devices and resources (physical and logical) which includes the following:

o Power Plant Controller

o Inverters

o Irradiance Sensors

o General Servers (ex. Data Loggers)

o Network devices (ex. Moxa)

o UPS devices

o Any other site equipment (ex. CCTV, Security System, etc..)

o RTU / RTAC support (physical and logical)

· Enter, record and update work activities performed in a maintenance management system.

· Update system records and drawings for work performed.

· Perform software maintenance of all relevant systems.

· Respond “on-call” as directed by site lead to assist in emergency equipment repairs.

· Perform instrument maintenance and calibration functions.

· Performs/assists with technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a PV power plant.

· Perform advanced level troubleshooting for component repair and replacements.

· Assist teammates in accomplishing operational objectives involving Administrate Control Systems, Information Technology, and communication systems modification requests under management of change procedure.

Ensure sufficient stock of spare parts for Control Systems, Information Technology, and communication system.

· Work independently and/or in work crews, depending upon skills and experience required for the job.

· Maintain company tooling, facilities and equipment and a clean safe work environment

· Become part of the team and be prepared to learn new tasks.

· Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable technician/professional with four or more years of experience with utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant and substation experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SCADA, DAS and communication networks and protocols.
  • Demonstrate commitment and participation in developing an accident-free work environment
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Technical understanding of solar generation
  • In field / hands on experience in solar construction and/or operation
  • Experience in an industrial environment dealing with machine repair and maintenance
  • Experience with electrical systems and familiarity of basic safety principles to included LOTO and Electrical Safety.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and tools
  • Willing to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
  • Proven ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Ability to understand directions, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal oversight
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Remain current in all safety and technical trainings
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations

Qualifications

  • AAS degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent
  • Must have experience in operating personal computer with technical proficiency of standard business software. Experience with SCADA and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is highly recommended.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced electrical circuit fundamentals such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application.
  • Minimum four years of experience in solar facility maintenance and repair or electrician.
  • Knowledge of GPM, Ovation and Wonderware SCADA systems a plus

Compensation package:

  • Bonus pay

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
